Amazing Best Man Speech

This past Labor Day T&B travelled up to Freeport Maine for Kath & Simon's wedding. During the reception we heard an amazing Best Man speech...which was actually an amazing song.

The best man along with the bridal party and some friends surprised everyone with an amazing homage to Simon's love for Katherine!

Check it out!

A charming tea

My dear friend Faye was in town from Italy this weekend.  And to celebrate her upcoming nuptials we took her to tea at The Plaza.  Faye's maid of honor come up with the loveliest idea, a charm bracelet filled with charms that we, her friends got her.  It looked so sweet and Faye loved it!

(The lighting at tea was not so good, so sorry for the rubbish picture!  The tea and scones were delicious though! Mmmm!)

Only 3 weeks to go till Faye and Michael's wedding now, I can't wait to be there, celebrate and make some pretty flowers!

Katherine and Simon

We are eagerly preparing for Katherine and Simon's wedding in Maine.  We have been working with the lovely couple for some months now to help them design and create their wedding.  It is not long to go now until the big day!!  Here is a taster of what to come... A sample of the mood boards that we made to help illustrate the vision for the day!  More to come from after the wedding.

My Weekend

Yummy fresh fruit and veg from a local farm, an amazing blue chair bought for one whole dollar at an estate sale!  Flags for bunting, a beautiful pin, some colourful courgettes (that's zucchini for Americans!) and 4 lovely little silhouette also from the estate sale.
A pretty satisfying weekend for my tummy and my knick knack collection!

Logs...logs and more logs!

Here at T&B we've been busy little bees...or bobos, making all sorts of fun items for Katherine and Simon's wedding...some of these items have been birch log decorations.

We're cutting different types of birch logs into logs of varying heights which will serve as beautiful table decorations, accented by candles, and some being used as table number cards.

We're also using birch logs as place card holders.

We love birch, and it's been a fun saw dust filled summer!

We're already excited to post pictures of the final product come wedding day.

Love,

Family treasures

My husband and I are spending this 4th July weekend with his parents in VA.  And although it has been many years since my husband moved out from his family home, he still seems to have a variety of childhood and inherited things sitting in the garage and basement.  So, to try and sort out some of his treasures we have been going through them this weekend.
Some of the goodies from his grandfather's tool box are amazing - I just want to put them out on display!

(The packaging of these old electrical wires are amazing!)

And what could be more appropriate for this weekend than finding a beautiful wool flag (in a plastic furniture cover box of all places!!)

Happy 4th July!

How does your garden grow

As this is our first summer with the Connecticut T&B garden, we are eager to see what we have growing in the garden already.  This weeks discovery was a big patch of Shasta Daisies.  Pretty, tall and great either by themselves or in a bouquet.
Can't wait to see what else pops up as the summer goes on!

Sweet, sweet William

In honor of the new Duke of Cambridge, I planted some Sweet William this weekend!  Although I did plant both some little seedlings and some seeds.  I didn't want to wait until next year to see them flower!

Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus), also called bunch pink or bearded pink.  It is usually treated as a garden biennial, seed sown the first year producing flowering plants the second year. The plant, growing to a height of 60 cm (2 feet), produces numerous flowers—white, pink, rose to violet, or sometimes bicoloured—with fringed petals.
Many sources contend that the flower was named for William Augustus, duke of Cumberland, who led British forces against the Jacobites at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Other sources claim, however, that the name of the flower can be traced to the writings of Thomas Tusser, a 16th-century English poet. In Scotland the flower is known as stinking Willie or sour Billy.

I can't wait for these little cuties to bloom!  I'll post some pictures when the do (although it might be next year!)

Wedding Day

If I am going to be honest with you, I have to say that I didn't really sleep that well last night for the excitement of the royal wedding (and because I was having anxiety that my alarm would not go off to wake me at 5am!)
Thankfully my alarm clock did go off right in time to see the royal family get in their cars on the way to Westminster Abbey, and more importantly, I got that first glimpse of Catherine getting into her car in her stunning Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen dress.  I think that it was perfectly regal, elegant and fitting for the Duchess of Cambridge.  Her flowers we also very fitting for the country girl, seasonably appropriate and very endearing with the Sweet William and traditional Myrtle.
Needless to say, I have been going around all day feeling like I went to the wedding and have sported puffy eyes from all the tears that I shed this morning!

(A lovely picture of the happy couple from Access Hollywood - includes a corner of those beautiful trees the graced the aisle of the Abbey)

(One of the balcony kisses!  Picture from the BBC)

(The bouquet!)

The perfect description of the flowers in Catherine's bouquet was on the Official Royal Wedding website:
Lily-of-the-valley – Return of happiness
Sweet William – Gallantry
Hyacinth – Constancy of love
Ivy: Fidelity; marriage; wedded love; friendship; affection
Myrtle: the emblem of marriage; love.

(The Wedding Cake, made by Fiona Cairns, was designed using the Joseph Lambert technique.  Picture from my new favorite Flickr stream - The British Monarchy)

I hope that William and Catherine had a perfect day and we wish them a life of love and happiness!

Getting inspired

What with spring in the air (let's just keep our fingers crossed we've seen the last of winter) and flowers blooming all around, I am feel inspired!  I wanted to share this inspiration board that I made for a client to help her decide what flowers she wants for her wedding tables and how to display them.  Pulling images from the internet and magazines is a great way to work out what you want for your flowers.  Below I've put them into 3 inspiration boards.

(The above images were pulled from the Tashi and Bobo archive and various wedding website)

For more ideas and to see what else we can do, check out our website: http://www.tashiandbobo.com and our FB pagehttp://www.facebook.com/tashiandbobo

I hope this is of some inspiration to you, or just pleasing to the eye!!

Strawberry Sunday

I was out and about this weekend and came across some very sweet looking strawberry plants in Walmart of all places!  I had to have some! I also come home with a pretty ranunculus plant.  I got inspired to make a few arrangements... cute ideas for a spring table.  Enjoy!
