Brooklyn's Dumbo Loft Wedding

We had a fantastic time working with Victoria and Amy on their amazing and touching wedding at the Dumbo Loft space in Brooklyn.

The venue was wonderful, and it provided the perfect backdrop for the silver and purple wedding color scheme.

We were able to come up with a fantastic design to work with the space, and take advantage of the ceremony area transformation to a dance floor space by adding globe lights and "chains" of flowers suspended overhead.

Bridal bouquet featuring purple roses, anemonies, succulents, lavender, salvia and blue thistle. Accented with silvery eucaliptus and wrapped in brown raffia ribbon.

Bridal bouquet featuring purple roses, anemonies, lithianthus. As well as orange ronoconulous, dhalias, rose hip, spray roses. Accented with silvery green grass pods and lambs ears. Wrapped in green raffia ribbon.

Lapel arrangements featuring spray roses, purple lavender and purple mini peppers.

Centerpiece in birch bark container, featuring roses, hydrangea, lithianthus, thistle, phlox, lavender, and grass pods.

Closeup of the centerpiece.

Bar menu sign showcasing the menu of the wine, beer and cocktails. We also printed the custom ceremony program designed as a flip-up booklet.

The wedding cake was a chocolate and chocolate gnash cake covered in butter cream and dark chocolate drizzled on top.

We had a wonderful time working with the brides and at the Dumbo Loft venue. More photos coming soon!

Birch...birch...oh yeah!

This fall will be a birch filled wedding season...and in preparation, I've been running around the woods of New Hampshire searching out spectacular pieces of this great tree, and check out this GIANT piece of birch!

Can't wait to use them in our next couple of weddings!

Deep Tones and Figs

Here are a few more snaps of a gorgeous centerpiece filled with deep toned flowers and figs that were growing in my backyard.

The flowers include: burgundy dahlias, merlot rononculous, yellow billy buttons, figs on branch, grass seed pods, blue thistle, pomegranates on branch, white blooming sedum, red amaranth, rosemary and eucalyptus greenery...among others.

For the photos we also used a cool vintage Du Pont Electric Blasting Caps box I purchased at a NH flea marked a few months ago. It came lined with a few pages from a 1920s newspaper. Love this box!

Enjoy!

Silk flower wreaths...vacation time!

Besides real flowers, we love to also make silk flower wreaths...especially for amazing Julia, who took nine of them on a birthday vacation to Mexico, one for each friend.

Each wreath was different, and most featured bright tropical flowers.

What a fun idea, right?!

Can't wait to hear what a fun time she had sporting the wreaths around town!

Thanks!

Chanel...actually!

I had a blast working on a birthday cake for a huge Chanel enthusiast...and figured that it would be a wild surprise for the birthday girl to cut into her cake....and expose the Chanel logo on the inside!

I started it out by making a cookie cutter in the shape of the two "C's". Then I baked the requested carrot cake and a small vanilla cake (for the inside filling).

Then I used the cookie cutter to remove the logo from the carrot cake, and replace it with the cut out from the vanilla cake. Repeated this fun profess a few times, and stacked each layer side by side...therefore ensuring that each cake slice would have the fun logo!

And here is how it came out!

I was too excited that I forgot to take a picture of what the cake looked like before it was cut!

How much fun is this logo inside the cake though!?

Can't wait for the next fun cake opportunity!

Thanks!

Deep toned bouquet...and gold wire!

Check out this beauty bouquet!

Instead of a traditional ribbon tie, we used gold-toned wire! How fun, right?
Besides looking good...it is fun to hold!

More pictures to come soon!

Romantic Colorado Mountain Wedding

Congratulations Beth & Joel on a gorgeous and romantic wedding celebration!

Everything from the venue, to the surroundings to the Bride herself, couldn't have been any more gorgeous!
The bridesmaid bouquet, with the Rockies serving as a lovely backdrop.

The wedding was held at the famous historical Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. The hotel is famous for many reasons, including being features in Stephen King's "The Shining".

Me and my husband in front of the hotel. Hi!
The Bride chose coral, pink and light green as her wedding colors, and they were perfect accents to the ivory and pearl accents on her dress and backdrop colors at the reception space.

The bridesmaids and their flowers.
In order to secure some of the most precious of blooms, yours truly purchased some of the flowers at the NYC flower district and few out with them in my carry on all the way to Colorado. The flowers survived the journey and looked great in the bouquets, blooms and centerpieces.

Check out some of the pictures!

The centerpieces consisted of a mix of three milk glass vases that the bride and her mom found at flea markets and garage sales in the months leading up to the wedding.

Close-up of the centerpiece.

Close up of the flowers, featuring rononculous, garden roses, wax flowers, cone flower heads and snapdragons.

The Bride's family took on the challenge of growing some flowers for the wedding, and I was beyond ecstatic to be able to use the dusty miller, snapdragons, cone flower heads, phlox, and aspen leaves...among others. It was so special to see that their months of watering and weeding produced such gorgeous results.

Congrats to Beth and Joel! Can't wait to see the professional photos!

Moroccan/Alhambra Inspired Wedding

Bright colors and interesting textures were key for Bride Stephanie's Morocco/Alhambra inspired wedding held this past weekend at My Moon Restaurant in Brooklyn.

Bride Stephanie took inspiration from the venue's decor, and we were able to work with her vision and create bright and colorful centerpieces, mini arrangements, gold toned silk table runners, wedding cake accented with the quatrefoil design, a fun wedding ceremony arch and flower accents for the metal lanterns...among other things!

Check them out!
Large centerpiece in brass bowl. The centerpiece was filled with a mix of bright flowers and interesting greenery. The custom made gold toned silk table runners really made the whole arrangement pop.

A close-up shot of one of the centerpieces, featuring thistle, dahlia, aster and eucalyptus leaves.

The french vanilla, raspberry and buttercream cake was styled to coordinate with the quatrafoil pattern used throughout the wedding, and we decorated it with fun and bright blooms.

The ceremony aisle chairs were accented with colorful blooms.
The staff setting up the ceremony area. We made the structure and decorated it with metallic circles and hanging blooms.

The venue had a great wall of jars and hanging vessels that we filled with fun and unique flowers, such as this giant thistle.

Metal lantern decorated with a few bright blooms.

The bride's bouquet. Featuring peonies, garden roses, prothea, cock's comb, spray roses, billy buttons, thistle, winter berries and orchids....among other flowers. It was a large bouquet and the flowers represented a more subdued and pale version of the bright and colorful wedding flowers.

Sample of the different bouts and corsages. We loved using blue thistle because of the great blue color, and because it kept the bouts very masculine

Groom's bout, which included thistle, spray rose, aster and freesia.
We loved working with Stephanie and can't wait to see the professional photos!
